About Marduk
Patron god of Babylon who rose to become king of the gods by defeating the forces of chaos.
A famous story
When the monstrous sea-goddess Tiamat threatened the gods, Marduk volunteered to fight her on the condition that he be made their king. He defeated her and shaped the world from her body, and Babylon honoured him with the towering ziggurat Etemenanki — a likely inspiration for the Tower of Babel.
